WICKMAYER FORCED TO RETIRE
(06.11.2009) Yanina Wickmayer of Belgium voluntarily retired from the Tournament of Champions in Bali after receiving a 12 month suspension.
Belgian youngstar Yanina Wickmayer, who had a breakthrough season this year was forced to retire from Commonwealth Bank Tournament of Champions in Bali as she received a 12 month suspension from the sport.

Contradicting the doping regulations after failing to inform officials about her whereabouts more than once in a year, Wickmayer defended herself suggesting that she had no idea about the rules but the Flemish Doping Tribunal in Belgium decided on her suspension.

Wickmayer was among the favorites to win the title in the inaugural event, which brought together the Top 10 ranked champions of International Level events during this year. Her withdrawal put Kimiko Date Krumm of Japan in the semifinals.
