CLIJSTERS CRASHES OUT
(22.01.2010) Despite being one of the favorites for the title, Kim Clijsters crashed out of the Australian Open in the third round.
US Open Champion and 15th seed Kim Clijsters of Belgium suffered a shock defeat as she crashed out of the Australian Open in the third round, losing 6-0 6-1 to 19th seed Nadia Petrova of Russia.

After her impressive comeback to the sport last year, the former world number one started this season in style by winning a title in Brisbane on the first week of the season. Despite being a big favorite for the title, she suffered the worst loss of her professional career.

8th seed Jelena Jankovic was another casualty of the day as she was upset 6-2 6-3 by the in-form 31st seed Alona Bondarenko of Ukraine.

Unseeded former world number one Justine Henin also reached the fourth round by adding 27th seed Alisa Kleybanova of Russia to her casualties as she prevailed. 3-6 6-4 6-2.
